The Venustron II is a multi-sensor hand-held probe system offering unprecedented precision and resolution for determining the "softness" and viscoelasticity of skin or other materials. A vibrating probe tip extends and retracts at user-definable speeds, distances, and force limits, simultaneously recording frequency changes, depths of penetration, and resistance values throughout the full excursion cycle. The computer draws a real-time hysteresis curve graphically depicting viscoelasticity as the area between the extension and retraction tracings and compressibility (softness/hardness) as determined by the slope of the curve.
